Week #145 - 'Shabby Chic Holiday'

Hello shabby friends and welcome to another fun week of inspiration and creativity here in the Tea Room!  This week I am our host and I have chosen the theme of 'Shabby Chic Holiday' along with this beautiful photo for inspiration and I ask that you create a card or project inspired by the photo using PINK, AQUA, WHITE/CREAM and GLITTER!

I loved the idea of this challenge and I thought I would make a Christmas/birthday card, as I know some people who have birthdays in December and I would get told off if i gave them something very christmassy as a birthday card.

So this is my card that I made using the above picture to inspire me. I hand sewed the card front as I wanted to use a lovely soft pink, to fit in with the theme. I found this really sweet teddy from me to you, which my friend is crazy on so I knew I had to use this on her card.

I then added the tags, looping twine thorough them and added a button.

The flowers have a very fine glitter centre which I thought they would be perfect for both the card and the challenge.

I am pleased with the end result as I know she will love her birthday card, and I had such a fun time playing along for this week challenge.
Please take a look at the shabby tea room, the cards are absolutely stunning and you are bound to find so much inspiration over there.

Seasons greetings

Hello thank you for popping by and having a look at my blog today. I have to be honest, I have been really behind with making my Christmas cards this year. In fact, I am so far behind that I have not sent one card yet, which is pretty terrible!
I sometimes think that as a cardmaker we feel that we have to make every single card that we send which is sometimes not possible, and as much as I would love to do this the reality is slim, so I have finally got round to making a few cards tonight which I will give to close friends and family. Does anyone else feel a little pressure to make most of your cards?

A lot of my elements on my card was made using my cameo and digital pink ink designs , I just adore their pretty patterned papers.

To make this card I used:

White card blank
Digital pink ink background paper
Digital pink ink Christmas tag
Echo park tag
Designs by dani star
Christmas postmarks by Sarah Hurley
Cosmo cricket paper (for the Christmas tree)
Brown thread
Small peg
Red & white twine
Glossy accents

I first cut down my backing paper to fit my card front and I then hand stitched the edges with brown thread. After adhering this down onto my card front I cut out the black and white echo park tag and looped through the twine. I placed the tag at the top left of my card, and then added the Christmas tags and star.
The Christmas tree was then placed at the bottom left of my card and I added the greeting and Christmas postmark.

To add more dimension to my card I went over the star and greeting with glossy accents, and then added clear balls onto the Christmas tree.

I hope you like the end result, and if there is a question about the card or products used please ask.

I would like to enter this card to word art Wednesday challenge 59, this is my first entry to the challenge. The ladies over their seem so friendly and kind, also there is so many beautiful cards to look at and be inspired by, it's definitely worth visiting at:

Shabby tea room challenge week 144

Hello :) thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

I have made this card for a challenge at the shabby tea room, I absolutely love their challenges and the design team over there are amazing!! The challenge this week was to make a card using the colours pink, aqua, silver with some glitter.
This is what I came up with and I have got to say I really enjoyed this challenge but what I have missed is taking part each week due to moving home and having nowhere to craft I have really missed taking part, however I can't be beaten and I'm having to go through my boxes of craft bits to try and make a card which seems to take forever he he!

The products I used to make this card were:

Kraft card base
Grid paper from Cosmo cricket
Me to you bear chipboard embellishment
Vellum butterfly's
Tab cut with my cameo
Felt flower with a glitter centre
3D flowers handmade
Paper smooches stamp
Versamark ink
Doily cut with my cameo
Pattern tape
October afternoon flower paper
Glossy accents
Seam binding
Glitter glue
Foam pads

To make the card I cut down my backing paper and placed this on the front of my card, I then cut a strip of october afternoon paper and placed this on top of the grid paper, which i then added the doily with foam pads and placed the teddy on top.

Next I cut out the tab and stamped my greeting on top and I then added the washi tape along the bottom of this.

I adhered the tab near the middle of the card, and then made the flowers which I placed along the side of the doily. I wanted a more 3D effect so I found some vellum butterfly's and placed them onto my card front.

As I needed to add glitter I found a flower and added glitter to the centre. I finished off the card with white seam binding to make it look complete.

I really enjoyed making the card and taking part this week. I hope you enjoy the card too.

Enjoy your day and thank you for having a peek at my cards,
